It's exactly the one you'd expect.
Top-seeded Serena Williams will be making her ninth semifinal appearance across the pond after roaring back from early struggles for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Victoria Azarenka.
It was the second time in her last three matches that Williams has been pushed to a deciding set. Starting off the match accurate and poised, Azarenka won all but four of her first-serve points and aggressively charged the net for a solid 6-3 victory. She also took advantage of Williams' bouts with inaccuracy, picking up wins on just enough receiving points.
Unfortunately for Azarenka, there were two more sets remaining.
Williams recaptured momentum in the second set with a series of dominant serves, leaving Azarenka flailing for a weak return or missing the ball altogether. The world No. 1 had 14 aces and dropped only six first-serve points over the final two sets. Whereas Azarenka was the aggressor early on, Williams turned up the heat and didn't really struggle at any point after the first set.
"We just saw today why Serena is No. 1," Azarenka said, per Art Spander of Newsday. "I haven't seen her play like this, honestly, even in the last matches before that."
Williams, in typical fashion, remained unsatisfied.
"I do believe and I hope I can serve better," Williams said, per Spander. "But I mean I always try to serve big on grass. That's my game, just aces. I felt like I was never really up, so I need to go back and look at this match."
