Early on Tuesday morning, several matches were halted in the middle of play, including that of fourth-seeded Andy Murray, who held a 7-5, 4-2 lead over Marin Cilic when the match was suspended.
Fifth-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was in trouble versus No. 10 Mardy Fish when his own match on the No. 2 court was called. Tsonga dropped the first set 4-6, but he will hold a 4-1 lead in the second set when play resumes.
On the No. 3 court, there was an upset brewing when the rain got in the way. No. 31 Florian Mayer was on the verge of a win over No. 18 Richard Gasquet in straight sets. That match currently stands at 6-3, 6-1, 0-1 in Mayer's favor.
The only matches still happening are taking place under the retractable roof on Centre Court, where No. 7 David Ferrer and No. 9 Juan Martin Del Potro will kick off the day's action, followed by Serena Williams vs. Petra Kvitova in the second match and Sabine Lisicki vs. Angelique Kerber in the third.
Lisicki is the lady the Wimbledon crowd is most eager to see on Tuesday, one day after she pulled off a fourth-round upset of top-seeded Maria Sharapova in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
Sharapova was making a bid to become the first woman since Williams in 2002 to win the French Open and Wimbledon in the same year. A title would have been her first at Wimbledon since 2004, but Lisicki got in the way.
Monday's match marked the third time Lisicki has managed to take down the French Open champion at Wimbledon. Her serve reached 118 mph, and a second-serve ace at 108 mph marked the winning serve. Afterward, she told the Associated Press (via SI.com):
