Williams vs. Pliskova: Score, Highlights from US Open Semifinals 2016

Pliskova, who had never before appeared in a Grand Slam semifinal, broke Williams three times (including twice in the first set) to become the fourth woman to beat both Williams sisters in the same major tournament. She beat Venus Williams in the fourth round and showed no nerves against Serena in this one.
Strong early serving paced Pliskova, but after having her serve fail her at times she managed to play well at the net despite that not being her strong suit. Her composure also enabled her to stay in it after being broken midway through the second set and hold the rest of the way, winning the final two points in the tiebreaker to claim victory.
It was the second straight year Williams has fallen in the semifinals, losing to Roberta Vinci last September.
Pliskova will face the winner of Thursday's other match, between Caroline Wozniacki and Angelique Kerber, for the U.S. Open championship on Saturday. Live coverage of that semifinal can be found here.
