Will 2013 Be the Year Novak Djokovic Finally Wins the Grand Slam?

However, a new chapter in tennis history could be written this year if the tennis gods shine brightly on Serbia’s favourite son Novak Djokovic.
Nole’s 2011 season went down as one of the most outstanding in recent tennis times. The Serbinator won 10 ATP titles that year, including three of the four Grand Slams; his only loss in a Slam being to Roger Federer in the semifinal of the French Open.
Having suffered back and shoulder injuries towards the end of 2011, it proved impossible for Djokovic to repeat his level of dominance throughout the following year.
After winning his third Australian Open, Novak went into the final of Roland Garros 2012 against Nadal one match away from holding all four Grand Slam titles at the same time.
It wasn’t to be, however, and the Spaniard won his seventh Coupe de Mousquetaires in four sets.
The Serb captured the first major of 2013 at Melbourne in January, and the world No. 1 will head towards Roland Garros brimming with confidence, having proven his clay court credentials with an emphatic straight-sets victory over Nadal in the final of Monte Carlo.
If Djokovic were to win the French in June, he would be the strong favourite to win his second Wimbledon and U.S. Open titles later on in the summer and hold the elusive calendar-year Grand Slam, which eluded greats including Roger Federer and Pete Sampras.
