Victoria Azarenka: Is She on Track to Win the Calendar Grand Slam?

It's great preparation for the second Grand Slam of the year, the French Open. The furthest Azarenka has ever been in the tournament is the quarterfinals, which she reached both last year and in 2009.
But as demonstrated by her impressive '12 campaign, the Belarusian is a completely different player than in years past.
Before, Azarenka would go on big stretches to win prestigious titles below the Grand Slam level, such as the Sony Ericsson Open, held in Miami. And just when she would be pegged for glory at the majors, she would fall short.
However, at this year's Australian Open that all changed. In Melbourne, Azarenka blasted through her first four opponents, then handled veterans Agnieszka Radwanska, Kim Clijsters and Maria Sharapova without too much difficulty.
That experience then spurred her on to new heights, such as going undefeated to start the year and becoming No. 1 for the first time.
And now it's on to the clay.
It's not her best surface, but she has had success on it—even as recently as last year when she reached the finals in Madrid. Making the finals out of the gate is a great start to her clay-court campaign, and could be a sign that she's on her way to adding a second piece of Grand Slam hardware to the trophy case.
From Paris, she could be halfway to history.
