Recap Shelby Rogers was one of the standouts in the final round of qualifying, beating Alla Kudryavtseva in three sets after dropping the first set 6-1. The local favourite struggled early but started to put more pressure on her opponent in the second set, taking full advantage of Kudryavtseva's many mistakes.
The final game of the match perfectly illustrated Rogers' resolve and Kudryavtseva's struggles. Up 40-0, the Russian challenger started messing around, gifting her opponent the win with an error on her forehand.
Afterward, Rogers took to Twitter to thank the fans in attendance for helping her pull through:
