US Open Tennis 2014: Early Results, Highlights and Scores Recap from Day 2

Day 2 of the U.S. Open isn't yet in the books, but the early action has provided plenty of drama and big names in action as the tennis in New York continues to sizzle.  

Will the top seeds keep on cruising? Will the American men in action give the host nation hope they'll be able to crown a champion? Who will be the early victims of upsets?

Below, we'll take a look back at the early scores and recap the action thus far as Round 1 continues.

Chalk generally held for the men in the early going on Tuesday, as top players like No. 10 Kei Nishikori, No. 13 John Isner and No. 15 Fabio Fognini all moved on without much incident. In fact, none of the five seeded players in action to open the day failed to advance. 

Of course, there wasn't a ton of star power on display in these early matches. But for fans in the United States hoping to see an American man break through at the Grand Slams, all eyes will be on Isner.

While Marcos Giron gave him all he could handle over three sets, Isner managed to advance in his usual fashion, leaning on his serve. The powerful server blasted 26 aces and not only won 86 percent of his first serve points, but also 85 percent of his second serve points.

Suffice to say, he kept Giron on his heels throughout the match, as the challenger never so much as forced a break point. 

Another American, Sam Querrey, had more of a battle on his hands, per Lynn Zinser of The New York Times:
