Obviously, this will be no easy task, and after just watching an unpredictable Wimbledon play out, it is no guarantee that either of these fine champions will make a deep run into this tournament.
The men's side is going to be loaded with possible fantastic matchups. We'll see how these matches line up when the draw is announced on Aug. 22, but for now, we simply have to be content in the knowledge that there will be ample matches to sink our teeth into.
It's the year's final major, and I expect this tournament to take the major season out with a bang.
Take a look at some of the vitals, and then I'll offer up a look at the men's and women's race to the title.

Men's Singles
Entering this event last year, Andy Murray was simply hoping to win his first major. This year, he enters as not only the defending U.S. Open champ but also as the reigning Wimbledon champ.
Needless to say, it's been an eventful year for Murray. And maybe the fatigue of it all is getting to him. He's looked less than stellar in his run up to the U.S. Open, with an exit in the third round and the quarterfinals of his past two events.
However, I certainly won't be surprised to see him reverse his recent play and make a nice run here. He will have plenty of competition to pull that off, however.
