US Open Tennis 2012 TV Schedule: Updated Listing for Women’s Final

A wave of severe weather hit the New York City area on Saturday, including tornadoes, wind and heavy rain. The weather was intense enough to delay even the USC-Syracuse football game for over an hour, so it was little surprise when the officials at Flushing Meadows decided that the remaining tennis, including the men's semifinal and women's final, would be delayed until Sunday.
The women's final between Victoria Azarenka and Serena Williams, originally scheduled to be played at Arthur Ashe Stadium on the evening of Saturday, September 8th, will now be played Sunday, September 9th. The rescheduled final will now begin at 4:30 p.m. EDT.
The final will be broadcast on CBS from 4:00-7:00 p.m. EDT, during the time slot originally designated for the men's singles final.
The men's final will now be played on Monday, September 10th, between Andy Murray and the winner of the David Ferrer-Novak Djokovic match, which was also delayed until Sunday.
Azarenka and Williams will meet in a rematch of the Olympic semifinal, in which Azarenka was badly beaten by Williams 6-1, 6-2.
Azarenka, the winner of this year's Australian Open, advanced past the fourth round at the US Open for the first time in seven attempts. The top-ranked singles player in the world, Azarenka is fighting to hold onto her No. 1 ranking against a surging Serena Williams, who won the title at Wimbledon and a pair of gold medals at the Olympics.
Though, Williams did not play terribly well at the recent Cincinnati Masters, she has looked strong throughout this year's Open, and is the most feared competitor in the women's game.
