US Open Tennis 2012: Day 9 Scores, Results and Recap

Flushing Meadows lived up to its wet name on Tuesday as showers took over Day 9 of the 2012 U.S. Open.
Those who got play started early in the day were able to complete their matches, but then Mother Nature took over. Novak Djokovic, Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova were all unable to get past their first set and will have to finish play on Wednesday.

Azarenka First Through to Semis
After strolling to an easy 6-1 first-set victory, it appeared world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka would coast past Samantha Stosur, who had yet to take a set from Azarenka in her career.
Not so fast.
The defending U.S. Open champion broke out those big muscles of hers and overpowered Azarenka to a 6-4 second-set victory thanks to two breaks and an impressive 12 winners.
The action got even better in the third set. Each woman broke the other twice and each upped her game to the best it had been all night en route to a tiebreak. In the end, it was Azarenka's defense and steadiness that came out on top over Stosur's power.
