US Open Day 1 Results: Dan Evans Stuns Kei Nishikori, Laura Robson Wins

There was also good news for British tennis on the women's side of the draw, with Laura Robson defeating Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain to advance.
Evans won 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 against Nishikori of Japan to set up a second-round meeting with either Albert Ramos or Bernard Tomic—neither of whom are seeded for the tournament.
Evans served eight aces in his victory and won 76 percent of points on his first serves, per the official US Open website.
The world's 179th-ranked player, 23-year-old Evans is entering uncharted territory. He was knocked out in Round 1 at Wimbledon in 2009 and 2011 but has never reached the second round of a Grand Slam.
Robson, despite being just 19, already has considerably more experience on the big stage.
She reached the fourth round at Wimbledon this year and went out at the same stage in New York last season.
Robson's 7-5, 6-0 opening win against Lino sets her up for a second-round meeting with either Caroline Garcia of France or American Shelby Rogers.
Robson served eight aces to Lino's six on Monday and managed to 79 percent of points on her first serve. There will be concern over her high number of unforced errors, however. She racked up 30 in two sets and will need to cut some of those out.
Elsewhere, there were early first-round victories for Dmitry Tursunov, on the men's side of the draw, and Patricia Mayr-Achleitner, Coco Vandeweghe, Carla Suarez Navarro and Kaia Kanepi on the women's.
