Monday was an interesting first take as to how things will shake out in New York. There were no major upsets, but seeded players such as No. 9 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, No. 8 Andy Murray and No. 6 Angelique Kerber struggled to move forward, a strong indication that the season's strong sense of parity has made the trip, too.
