Thursday had all the favorites going through. Friday was a repeat.

Whereas some favorites and outsiders struggled in the first round, the second round for the men and the third round for the women seemed a lot easier. Upsets? I didn't see any.

The Men

Andy Murray had an initial fight with Dustin Brown, but drew away at 5-all in the first and never looked back. In the end, Brown looked as though he just wanted to get off the court as fast as possible.

Result: 7-5, 6-3, 6-0 in less than 90 minutes.

Rafael Nadal had a little more work to do against the more dangerous opponent Denis Istomin, but managed to pull out of two tight sets to secure a three-set win.

Result: 6-2, 7-6 (5), 7-5.

The two American twin towers each secured a win, Sam Querrey's being more convincing than John Isner's, who had to fight for it.

Querrey vs. Marcel Granollers: 6-2, 6-3, 6-4

Isner vs. Marco Chiudinelli: 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7), 6-4

David Nalbadian, David Ferrer, Mikhail Youzny, Tommy Robredo, Nicolas Almagro and Fernando Verdasco all advanced as well, with Verdasco only losing five games. Watch out for the third-round match between Nalbaldian and Verdasco.

It can hardly be called an upset, though. Simon thus earned the right to be man-handled by Nadal in the third round.

The Women

As with the men, the women favorites made a convincing display on Friday.

Venus Williams breezed through Mindy Manelle with 6-1, 6-2.

Dementieva had a harder match against Daniella Hantuchova, but got the work done with 7-5, 6-2.

Kim Clijsters kept looking convinc...
