Top 10 Women’s Tennis Rankings Changed after China Open

BEIJING, Oct. 12, 2011 -- The world rankings of some of the biggest names in women's tennis have changed, with Na Li slipping to No. 7 as the China Open, the final WTA Premier Mandatory tournament of the year, wrapped up on Sunday here in Beijing.
According to the latest statistics of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), China's French Open champion Na Li, who bowed out of China Open's first round, slipped from world No. 5 to No. 7, while Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland and Andrea Petkovic of Germany, the two who cruised to the finals, both ascended to the Top 10.
Li, the first player from an Asian country to win a grand slam singles title, has managed just five victories since she was crowned champion at the French Open, suffering a first-round loss at the China Open, a second-round defeat at Wimbledon and a first-round exit at the U.S. Open.
Radwanska, the China Open champion, went from No. 12 to No. 8, tying for her career-high after winning the Beijing tournament. The runner-up, Petkovic, ascended two spots to a career-high No. 9, the second highest a German has ranked behind the former world No. 1 Steffi Graf.
World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki and Russian superstar Maria Sharapova still hold the top two spots. Victoria Azarenka went back to the third-ranked place, while the former world No. 3 Vera Zvonareva descended two spots to No. 5. Rising star Petra Kvitova ascended to world No. 4.
The other Top 10 players, ranked from No. 6 to No. 10 in sequence, are Samantha Stosur from Australia, Na Li from China, Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland, Andrea Petkovic of Germany and Kim Clijsters from Belgium.
