Serena Williams Will Ride Momentum to 2013 French Open Title

“I feel lighter, I feel healthier, and even though I'm 31—which really isn't old, but for an athlete, particularly a tennis player, it's old—I promise you, my body has never felt better," she told Essence, according to Ann Oldenburg of USA Today. "Considering how much I've played and how much I've done, I feel fine. I'm strong."
Williams sure looks strong in the 2013 French Open. She defeated Roberta Vinci by the score of 6-1, 6-3 on Sunday to advance to the quarterfinals. If the 15-time singles Grand Slam champion keeps playing like she is, she can’t be beat.
“I just want every point," she said after finishing off Vinci, according to ESPN. "Every match I'm really focused for the whole period of time. I really want it every match.”
Williams is easy to believe. She not only hasn’t lost a set at Roland Garros, but her four foes have also only mustered up a grand total of 10 points against her. Williams’ dominance isn’t a fluke, though—she’s embarrassed opponents all year.
She boasts a record of 36-2 this season. She’s already won five WTA titles.
Dating back to last year, Williams has won two out of the past three Grand Slams—three out of the past four if one throws in the 2012 London Summer Olympics.
She’s also dominated the remaining women standing between her and her second Coupe Suzanne Lenglen. Williams has never lost to Sara Errani or Agnieszka Radwanska and is 13-2 all time against Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova—and she’s won 12 straight against Sharapova.
Williams is performing like her body has never felt better. Now that she’s full steam ahead, it would be shocking if anyone were able to knock her off.
