Serena Williams Takes Home Wimbledon Title with Win over Agnieszka Radwanska

The hard-fought 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 victory over Agnieszka Radwanska in the finals now gives the legend five Wimbledon titles in her career and 14 Grand Slam titles overall.
While Radwanska was playing amazing and deserves a great deal of credit, Williams found another gear and shifted into overdrive for this year’s Wimbledon.
There was no woman on earth who could’ve stopped Serena at the All England Club this week.
What It Means
After winning her fifth Venus Rosewater Dish as the winner of Wimbledon, there is little doubt that Serena is the most dominant women’s tennis player of the last 20 years.
At 30 years old, there is a good chance that Williams has another Grand Slam title win left in the tank; especially if she brings this kind of strength and determination to the court every time.
While this will not push Serena into the top spot in the world, it is setting her up for a possible return to the World’s No. 1 ranking if she can continue to carry this momentum through the rest of the season.
What’s Next?
There were many fans and experts that had written off Williams as a viable threat at Grand Slams, but they will be forced to eat their words now; Serena is back and more focused than ever.
Williams continued success will be determined by how focused she stays on the game. She is a well-versed entrepreneur, but that has taken away from her play on the court.
If her health stays solid and she stays focused, Wimbledon 2012 will not be the last Grand Slam title we see Serena Williams raise.
