Serena Williams Defeats Jelena Jankovic to Win 2013 Family Circle Cup Title

The title is Williams' second straight at the WTA event and her third overall; she also won in 2008. The 31-year-old veteran has now won two straight singles tournaments after beating Maria Sharapova at the Sony Tennis Open in Miami last weekend.
Williams was the top seed in the draw, taking on the ninth-seeded Jankovic just a day after defeating her older sister Venus in straight sets in the tournament semifinals. The easy win marked Serena's fifth straight against her sister. Serena leads the all-time head-to-head 14-10.
Prior to this April, Jankovic hadn't made the final at this event since she won the Family Circle Cup in 2007.
Williams now has three singles titles in 2013 and 49 for her career. She won the WTA Brisbane International in the lead-up to the Australian Open in January and conquered Miami for a record sixth time last month.
A 15-time Grand Slam champion, Williams is firing on all cylinders at the ideal time heading into the European clay-court season and the year's second Slam event, the 2013 French Open, which will begin in late May.
She'll look to earn a few more singles championships this spring in order to remain ahead of Sharapova, Victoria Azarenka and Agnieszka Radwanska in the WTA world rankings.
