Men's Draw
Rafael Nadal survived on Wednesday. Many of the other top contenders in action weren't so lucky, however.
It wasn't easy for Nadal, but he played well in a 7-6(4), 6-3 victory over Sergiy Stakhovsky. After, he simply seemed pleased to be moving on, per ATPWorldTour.com:

This is a part of the season that I won zero points last year. Every match that I won are points that I add to the computer for my [Emirates ATP Ranking]. That's important for me today. Every victory is important for me. That was a good one. Let's try tomorrow.
At moments, Nadal flashed his vintage form in the victory.
Nadal will next face Mikhail Youzhny, who upset No. 9 Gilles Simon, 6-1, 6-4.
Simon wasn't the only player to bow out on Wednesday, however, as No. 5 Tomas Berdych, No. 6 Marin Cilic and No. 14 Grigor Dimitrov all were upset.
As usual, however, the Big Four was unaffected by the upset bug, as No. 2 Andy Murray knocked off Tommy Robredo, 6-4, 7-5. It wasn't all fun and games for Murray, though.
"I lost my timing in the middle of the second set but came up with some good shots towards the end," Murray told BBC Sport. "I feel much better on the court. I am hitting my back hand better and it forced Tommy to slice the ball. Then I could dictate the points. It wasn't something I could do early on in the year."
