And just like that, the first week of the 2011 ATP and WTA seasons is in the books: For the men, Roger Federer won the title in Doha; his countryman, Stanislas Wawrinka, captured the crown in Chennai; and Robin Soderling brought it home in Brisbane.

On the women's side, Petra Kvitova came out on top in Brisbane and unseeded veteran Greta Arn got to lift the big trophy in Auckland.

For the coeds, the U.S. team of John Isner and Bethanie Mattek-Sands emerged victorious at the Hopman Cup.

A great start to the year is something all players strive for, and can often set the pace for the rest of the year. Here are some things to expect based on those results and others after the first week, good and bad:

Federer's Back, OK?: Remember those moments in 2010 when it looked like Fed's descent was well on its way? Talk about a distant memory after the way last season ended and the way this one has started off!

Sharapova Has a Way to Go: On the way to her second career title, Arn took out none other than Maria Sharapova in the quarterfinals--not the start the 2008 Australian Open champ was looking for. Getting healthy, playing with a new racquet and under a new coach can lead to a lengthy readjustment period for the Russian.

Soderling's Here to Stay: The Swede is at the peak of his powers, and it would be a pretty safe bet the year holds a lot more in store for him. He's already accomplished something he never has before by winning a hard-court title outdoors. Can a Major be the next huge step?

Don't Forget About That Nadal Guy: Sure, fatigue and Nikolay Davydenko halted the dream final matchup in Doha, but Rafael Nadal did capture the doubles title there, along with making the singles semifinals. That's great match preparation heading into the first Grand Slam of the year and could set the stage for a big 2011.
