Roger Federer vs. Andy Murray: Shanghai Masters Finals Preview

Riding a wave of spectacular ball-striking and concentration, Roger Federer and Andy Murray have plowed through a draw of 54 other players to set up a final showdown in Shanghai on Sunday.
While Murray got the better of Federer earlier this year in Toronto, the Swiss has risen to the occasion of ending the year with vigor by breezing through a tricky draw. Both men haven't lost a set coming in, while providing further evidence that their hard-court skills remain at the very top of the men's game.
Federer has been in a revengeful mood this year, clipping Tomas Berdych, Robin Soderling and Novak Djokovic after earlier losses.
But will Federer's successful revenge be enough for Murray's two out of three set expertise?
Federer mentioned after his loss in Canada why he'd never dropped a match (or a set for that matter) to Murray in a Slam final. Holding a 2-0 record against Murray at the Majors, Federer modestly suggested that the pressure seemed to bother the Scot, while he was better at dealing with the circumstances.
I disagree.
It's not so much that Murray felt pressure in those Slam finals; his outlook towards defeating Federer in a two out of three set format has always been much clearer. Murray knows that Federer won't have enough time to pick up on his tactics in a shorter match sequence, and that he has enough game to keep the pressure on for at least three sets. Furthermore, it's not that Grand Slam occasions hurt Murray against Federer, it's that he can't employ his on-again, off-again defensive-aggressive game-style as efficiently.
However, the players will be under the confines of a three-set format on Sunday, and that will result in a worrisome scenario for the Swiss.
