While Pliskova's stay in New York ended in heartbreak, she'll rise to a new career-high ranking because of her impressive run. At 24, her future looks positively radiant.
For Williams, the vacating of her throne and inability to break two prestigious records register as disappointments for the aging American. But she won't drop far on our list. Once she gets back to 100 percent physically, expect Williams to return with a vengeance and resume her quest for history.
