Rafael Nadal’s Confidence Rising at 2015 Shanghai Masters

This is normally the time when Nadal staggers through arena tunnels like a weary traveler boarding a red-eye flight. Now there is more urgency and energy as he grinds through big servers and hitters in his most recent matches.
In the quarterfinals, the Spanish legend destroyed world No. 4 Stan Wawrinka 6-2, 6-1 for his most impressive victory of the year. Most importantly, he has been oozing with self-belief as he talks about what this means for his confidence. "That's a big improvement for me," he said, per ATPWorldTour.com. "In terms of confidence, in terms of level of tennis, I am playing better. Very happy for that because I am working so hard."
Nadal's growing confidence was also expressed through his comments at Shanghai with two previous matches. In the second round, he cut down Ivo Karlovic’s massive serve in winning big points. Next, he felled top-10 giant Milos Raonic, explaining what might be most important for his return as a major contender. “Today, I felt that I was not playing with as much nerves when I am on court,” he said in ATP World Tour.
Nadal further elaborated on just what this means in context of his summer struggles, again per ATP World Tour:
Winning a match 7‑6 in the third yesterday (against Karlovic) and winning a match again today in the tiebreak of a second set, two tiebreaks without losing a point with my serve, it’s impossible if you don't have control of your emotions. That's something that, a couple of months ago, would have been impossible for me.
