Rafael Nadal vs. Roger Federer: The One We All Wanted, the Dream Matchup

That was the score of Roger Federer's win over Novak Djokovic.

Impressive, isn't it?

By virtue of Federer's win over Djokovic today, the two players in the Barclays World Tour Finals are Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, a pairing we have not seen since the Madrid Masters in May.

But now the question that springs to mind is, "Who will win?"

Federer or Nadal?

As one of the neutrals (I hear many scoffs), I think it will be a very tough match, but I would give Federer the slight edge.

The way he played against Novak was brilliant; he used a very controlled style of aggression that garnered him 32 winners to just 18 unforced errors. He was picking his shots superbly, forcing long rallies and errors from Djokovic on his serve.

In the first set, Federer was in imperious form, making few mistakes and hitting superb winners from all areas of the court. His forehand was in full flight, along with his backhand, with which he hit winners both down the line and crosscourt. He raced to a three-love lead, then gave one game to Djokovic before taking the next three to take the set.

Such was his dominance that during a long rally in the fourth game, Federer pulled the trigger and suddenly drilled a magnificent backhand down the line. When Federer mis-hit a forehand on the next point, the world No. 3 mockingly raised his arms in celebration.

The next set appeared to be the first in reverse, with Federer dropping down a gear and Novak stepping it up.

Djokovic led in the second set, 3-1.

Federer then broke Djokovic’s serve with spectacular play and drew level at four games all. Federer then went into that extra gear and broke once more to serve for the set.

He put on a dominant display that just blew Djokovic away.
