Djokovic cruised to an easy 6-3, 6-0, 6-0 victory over the unseeded Spaniard. It took just one hour and 18 minutes for the No. 1 seed to advance.
It was clear from the outset that Djokovic would not be denied in this match. For starters, he had his first serve dialed in. In the first set, which proved to be the most competitive, Djokovic hit 70 percent of his first serves and he didn't have a single double fault.
Those are solid numbers, but not nearly as impressive as the fact that he did not lose a single service point. Meanwhile, he won 43 percent of his receiving points in that set.
Djokovic couldn't keep that insane service rate going, but he remained sharp. Meanwhile, his prodigious return game improved.
Djokovic did not drop a game for the remainder of the match. Midway through the second set of this beatdown, Djokovic's magnificence was becoming wildly apparent:
Granollers wasn't playing poorly. There was just nothing he could do against Nole as he hit nearly every spot he was aiming for.
In the second set, Nole won 68 percent of his receiving points. That's an outstanding number...except compared to the 92 percent he won for the third set.
It took Djokovic just 44 total minutes to finish off the last two sets in a match that has to have the remaining men's qualifiers a tad worried.
During his run to the top of men's tennis, Djokovic has obviously played some scintillating tennis. However, he may have never looked better than he did in the final two sets of this match.
