Novak Djokovic vs David Ferrer: Score and Recap from Mubadala Championships 2013

Ferrer got off to a strong start early in the first set, winning a number of games with his strong serve and defensive ability. However, Djokovic showed plenty of resolve by forcing breaks and coming back with a 7-5 win in the set.
Things were much more one-sided in the second set, as Ferrer simply could not keep up on long rallies, and Djokovic was able to pull away for the victory.
After his semifinal win over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Djokovic said, "I exceeded my own expectations. My performance today was great," via the Agence France-Presse (h/t Yahoo! News).
If he was excited about that showing, he had to be thrilled with how he played in the final. He looked sharp despite a long absence and was clearly the best in a loaded event in Abu Dhabi.
The six-man tournament featured only the best in the world, as each of the competitors entered the event ranked in the top 10 in the world. This included even Andy Murray, who was making his triumphant return after missing some time with back injury.
It was expected that Djokovic would take on Rafael Nadal in the final, like he'd done five different times this year, but the Spanish star was upset in the semifinals by compatriot Ferrer.
The No. 3 player in the world was a strong foe in his own right, but he simply could not keep up with Djokovic's masterful play.
