Mardy Fish Loses, Tomas Berdych and Andy Roddick Move on at Australian Open

Tommy Robredo upset 16th-ranked American Mardy Fish, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3. Coming back from a humiliating first round, Robredo won three straight sets, elevating the 52nd-ranked Spaniard as he climbs to the next round.
What promised to be a good year for the new and improved Mardy Fish is certainly starting off poorly.
Tomas Berdych has beaten Philipp Kohlschreiber in four sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4. After what seemed to be a daunting first set, Berdych came back to win the next three sets and move on to the next round.
Andy Roddick took on 99th-ranked Igor Kunitsyn, beating him in the famed Rod Laver Arena, 7-6, 6-2, 6-3. The eighth-ranked American is the highest ranked American competing in the tournament. With this, Roddick makes his way to the next round of the Australian Open, hoping to come back to the fame he once had.
Janko Tipsarevic took on ninth-ranked Fernando Verdasco in Hisense Arena, where Verdasco is winning in the fifth set 2-6, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 1-0.
While Tipsarevic played well initially, it was really Verdasco who took control of the game in the fourth set, winning several break points even after missing on several early cross-court forehands that one would expect him to make in his sleep. The 49th-ranked Serbian looked to be creating quite the stir during this open, but Verdasco's pace appears to be the real champion here.
**UPDATE**
Fernando Verdasco finally beat Janko Tipsarevic 2-6, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(7-0), 6-0. Sandra Zahlavova is beating No. 4 Venus Williams in the second set, and Francesca Schiavone is beating Rebecca Marino in the first set.
