Thursday Recap Berdych did not do a whole lot wrong against Murray, but the world No. 2 was just too good for the Czech player.
He opened the match with a fairly routine hold courtesy of some brilliant second serves and then broke Berdych at the first time of asking for 2-0, with a brilliantly disguised drop shot forcing the opportunity.
The pair then exchanged service holds before Murray forced his first set-point on Berdych's serve in the eighth game of the match after the world No. 8 missed a crucial overhead.
Berdych, though, managed to hold after a mammoth game to stay in the opener, but Murray then served out the set in very efficient fashion.
His serve looked in particularly rude health, and his constant variation on shot selection had Berdych running back and forth across the court, per TennisTV:
Errors were few and far between from the two-time Grand Slam winner and, although he held well at the start of the second set, Berdych simply could not force an opportunity on Murray's serve.
