Djokovic defeated Nadal for the 10th time in their last 11 meetings, winning 7-6 (5), 6-2 to clinch a berth in the final.
The world No. 1 weathered a battle of a first set, going up 4-1 before Nadal powered back to even the score at 5-5. Djokovic forced a tiebreak and claimed the set when Nadal sent a backhand into the net.
Kelyn Soong of the Washington Post noted how thrilling the matches between these two greats have been over the years:
From there, the Serbian cruised, and the Spaniard struggled. Djokovic went up 4-2 in the second set when Nadal netted on an unforced error. He then took the next two games to win his 25th match against arguably his biggest rival.

Djokovic wore Nadal down Saturday. Even though the world No. 5 kept it close in the first set, going down after that duel seemed to take a toll.
