No. 3 seed Andy Murray was the top draw on Monday and didn't disappoint, cruising to an easy straight-sets victory over Facundo Arguello. Despite a relatively difficult draw—he'll likely either have to beat Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal in the semifinals, if he gets that far—this year looks like the best shot Murray has at winning the French Open.
Here are the highlights from that match.
That's in large part because the star player is now 11-0 on clay courts this season. While Nadal is always the prohibitive favorite in this tournament given his dominance at Roland Garros and Novak Djokovic is the best player in the world at the moment, Murray certainly looks the part of a French Open champion right now.
The road will only get more difficult for him, however.
There weren't too many surprises on the men's side, as No. 4 Tomas Berdych, No. 12 Gilles Simon and No. 13 Gael Monfils all advanced. The only seeded player who failed to move on was No. 11 Feliciano Lopez, who fell to Teymuraz Gabashvili 6-3, 7-6, 6-3.
The women's draw was highlighted by an upset on the day, however, as Sloane Stephens eliminated No. 15 Venus Williams, 7-6, 6-1. Here are the highlights.
