French Open 2012 TV Schedule: Murray vs. Giraldo Is Tournament’s Must-See Match

The early matches can be caught on the Tennis Channel and the later matches can be seen on NBC. Here is the U.S. TV listings for all the matches at Roland Garros, via the United States Tennis Association website.
Under normal circumstances, this would be a blowout, but Murray has been struggling with a back injury. If his ailment continues to bother him, he may suffer a monumental upset at the hands of Giraldo.
Murray is the fourth-seeded player in the tournament, while Giraldo is unranked.
Murray cruised through his first-round matchup against Tastsuma Ito, but had a more difficult time with with Jarkko Nieminen. He dropped the first set 6-1, clearly in pain with a back spasm. He was able to loosen up during the match and came back to win in four sets.
As the Scot continues to put more strain on his body, he may not be able to recover as quickly. If his back continues to hinder his play, it could have a big effect on the rest of the tournament.
The men’s tournament at Roland Garros has been fairly predictable in recent years, with the higher seeds advancing deep in the tournament. This is the best chance for spectators to see an upset this early.
If one of the top seeds is vulnerable, it’s definitely Murray. He did reach the semifinals last year, but he was eliminated in the fourth round in 2010.
As for Giraldo, he is definitely nothing special. But the Columbian will have momentum after upsetting 25th-seeded Bernard Tomic.
This was a particularly satisfying victory as Tomic eliminated him in the first round of the Italian Open in May.
Murray is clearly the better player, but given the unusual situation, Girlado may have just enough going for him to pull off an incredible upset.
