French Open 2012: Rafael Nadal Will Destroy Field at Roland Garros

"Rafa" is looking to win his seventh French Open title and will emerge victorious when the end of the competition rolls around on June 10.
Nadal tied Bjorn Borg with a record sixth French Open title when he beat Roger Federer last year in Paris and he'll be looking to move into sole possession of first place in that regard.
You just can't beat this guy on clay.
According to ESPN, Nadal has racked up 2,590 clay points this season, 990 more than his nearest competitor, David Ferrer. He also has almost twice as many as Federer (1,360) and Novak Djokovic (1,380). As good as Federer and Djokovic are, there's no way that they're going to eek out a victory against Nadal.
Nadal has only lost one match at the French Open, which came against Robin Soderling, undoubtedly because of his balky knees. He's won 45 matches in his career at the tournament and is in perfect form coming into Paris, winning three of the last four tournaments he's played.
It's hard to see anyone else reaching the final to play Nadal other than Federer or Djokovic, and while there has been much made of the rivalries between Nadal and the other two, neither series has been all that close, especially on clay.
Nadal holds a 12-2 advantage over Federer on clay and an 11-2 edge over Djokovic on the surface.
He didn't go 23-4 against the two best tennis players in the world buy chance; it wasn't a fluke. He's way beyond the point of thinking that he's going to win on clay and has reached the point that he definitively knows that nobody has a chance against him in any match on clay.
Another concerning stat for the field at Roland Garros is that Nadal is 177-6 on clay since 2005. That's an unprecedented 30-1 ratio over six years that you cannot find in any other sport today.
