French Open 2011: Eighth-Seeded Samantha Stosur Exits After Third-Round Upset

Dulko started out strong, getting the first four games in the first set. When the set was 5-2 in favor of Dulko, she got the first two points in the next game and looked like she would cruise to victory. Stosur came back strong and got multiple break opportunities, and Dulko fizzled after putting two straight shots in the net, giving Stosur the game.
Dulko continued to be inconsistent, getting triple set point off Stosur’s serve but then giving up six straight points to extend the set. Dulko got another triple set point opportunity in the next game and was able to hold serve and take the set, 6-4.
Stosur started off the next set strong, getting the first three games. When it was 3-1 in favor of Stosur, Dulko missed a great opportunity to spike the ball at deuce to get a break point advantage, as she smashed it right into the net. Even though Stosur continued to have problems with her forehand shots, her serving was keeping her in the match. Stosur would hold serve and eventually win the set, 6-1.
Dulko started to take control once again after the third set was tied 2-2. She made Stosur become unbalanced with varying returns, either smashing the ball across the court or hitting a lighter shot that Stosur would have to go after.
During the third set, Dulko would break Stosur’s service to go up 4-2 and then won the next game with her fourth and final ace of the match to take a commanding 5-2 lead. Stosur was able to hold serve, but it was easy to tell that Dulko had all the momentum, and she again won four straight points during her service game to win the set, 6-3, and the match.
