9:28: So here we are. The women's final. Just a quick question, when the draws came out, did anyone think that either of these players would be here? Sure, they are both ranked, but there are so many more dominant players such as the Williams sisters and Justine Henin. Stosur up 3-2 on Francesca Schiavone, on serve.
9:31: Wow, watching Schiavone for the first time, it is apparent that she is extremely strong. She is ranked 17th in the world and has been around the professional level for about 10 years, but never made it past the quarterfinals in any major tournament! No Italian woman has ever made it this far in this tournament. 3-3, first set, on serve.
9:35: There have not been a lot of good women's finals at the French Open lately. This has good potential as both players seem to be relentesly holding serve. 4-3 on serve.
9:37: Stosur had an extremely hard draw to get here. She is known as a doubles player. She has beaten Henin, Serena Wiliams, and Jelana Jancovic!...to name a few. She is ranked 7th in the world, but tahat is due to a recent surge in her singles tennis game.
9:41: It is actually the first Italian woman ever to make it to a major final. Schiavone holds, 4-4, on serve.
9:43: Interesting fact: There is a strong possibility that Stosur will have her ranking rocket to three in the world if she wins this match. 0-40 on Stosur's serve, and one more point means that Schiavone will have a chance to serve for the set! 15-40.
9:45: Wow, what a point, Schiavone hits the tape and it is 30-40. And Stosur DOUBLE FAULTS! Huge break for Schiavone!
9:47: A lot of the crowd has been rooting for the Italian. Stosur will need to break to stay in the set.
