Donald Young and Alex Bogomolov Jr.: 2011 Seems Like a Lifetime Ago

Unfortunately, 2012 hasn't been as kind up to this point in the season. Young and Bogomolov lost in the opening round of this week's event in Atlanta to Americans Steve Johnson and Jack Sock, respectively. And while Johnson and Sock represent two of the brightest hopes for future U.S. success, those are still "bad" losses for Young and Bogomolov, who it looked like would build and improve upon their success of a year ago.
So, what's happened?
For both, the answers are hard to fathom. Young, once heralded as the next big thing, has had to handle the weight of expectations for years. Last year, though, aside from a dispute with the United States Tennis Association in regard to receiving a wildcard for the French Open, it appeared he was ready to take it to the next level. It was a year of firsts for the Atlanta native: a first career ATP semifinal, first round of 16 Grand Slam showing (at the U.S. Open) and first singles final.
Currently, though, Young is mired in a double-digit losing streak. The common train of thought is that his reliance on working with his parents as his primary coaches is holding him back as much of his success last year was attributed to USTA support. That
