The Canadian was noticeably distraught as she had to pull out, with the scoreboard reading 6-2, 1-1 in favour of Andrea Petkovic. Dizziness was cited as the reason for her withdrawal.
It was also a tough day for Jo Wilfried-Tsonga, as he suffered similar problems during a shock, straight-sets loss to Austrian Andreas Haider-Maurer.

Bouchard and Tsonga Suffer with Dizziness
It’s been a hugely disappointing year for Bouchard, and her poor fortune continued in Beijing as she was forced to retire during her clash with Petkovic.
As reported by Lucy Maxwell of Yahoo, the 21-year-old suffered a concussion at the U.S. Open earlier in the year following a fall. Bouchard was forced to withdraw from her Round 4 match in that competition, and it seems as though she’s still feeling the effects of the trauma.

Petkovic revealed the details of her conversation with Bouchard afterward, per Talek Harris of AFP (h/t Yahoo):
I just asked her what happened, and she told me that she felt very dizzy.
Then I asked if it was the same, if it still was the concussion. She said, yeah, it tends to come back when she gets physically very active. I just said I feel it's really bad luck because I thought she was playing so well again.
