BNP Paribas Masters 2013 Results: Top Stars Who Will Continue to Shine

The second round featured just three upsets in the 16 matches played. Philipp Kohlschreiber defeated Tommy Haas, Grigor Dimitrov took down Fabio Fognini and Kei Nishikori was able to upset Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Outside of those matches, the higher seed won with relative ease.
Moving into the final rounds of the tournament, the typical stars stand to make runs at the title. Defending champion David Ferrer will certainly look to repeat, but some of the other top names in the game will be giving him a run for his money.
The final rounds of the 2013 BNP Paribas Masters will certainly be fun to watch.
David Ferrer
It's hard not to like the defending champion's chances of repeating. Ferrer defeated Lukas Rosal 6-0, 2-6, 6-3 in the second round and will face Gilles Simon in the third round on October 31.
The Spaniard plays a fast game, and his pace is difficult to match. His opponents are frequently out-hustled, and Ferrer often tires them out during the later sets because of how intense he is during each individual game.
Surprisingly, Rosal was able to hang with Ferrer through two sets. Ferrer appeared to be cruising after the first set, winning all six games to take a commanding lead in the match. Rosal was able to handle Ferrer with relative ease in the second set, though, and it took a pretty close third set to decide the match.
Ferrer will need to be careful against Simon in the third round. He can't afford any second-match slip-ups against Simon, as it's generally not safe to give up the middle set after dominating in the first.
Ferrer is the favorite to win, but he'll need to play a more consistent match in the third round.
