Day 5 of the 2013 ATP World Tour Finals was one of the most exciting of the event thus far, and the action in the singles and doubles divisions has really started to heat up.
With Stanislas Wawrinka upsetting No. 3 seed David Ferrer and Rafael Nadal holding on for a victory over Tomas Berdych—as well as two of the fiercest doubles battles fans will ever see—this tournament is turning out to be a bitter war.

Stanislas Wawrinka Stuns David Ferrer, 6-7, 6-4, 6-1
After a tough road to the semifinals, No. 7 seed Stanislas Wawrinka stunned the field once again and beat No. 3 seed David Ferrer, 6-7, 6-4, 6-1, on Day 5 to advance to 2-1 in the group stage.
With Nadal’s win over Berdych, Wawrinka has secured his spot in the next round.
Ferrer came out red hot, as he always does, but Wawrinka was able to withstand the relentless attack. After losing the first set in bitter fashion, the Swiss star won the second in a tight battle and utterly dominated the third.
While Wawrinka will not get the respect he deserves against the biggest names in the sport, he has carried serious momentum into this event, and it is blossoming into success on the court.
Rafael Nadal Holds off Tomas Berdych, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3
There is no question that No. 1 seed Rafael Nadal was favored in his matchup with No. 5 seed Tomas Berdych, but few expected the latter to give the top ranked player as tough a fight as he did.
