With the quarterfinals on tap for Friday, here are a few things to watch for throughout the day.
Can Juan Martin del Potro Continue Hard-Court Dominance?
Juan Martin del Potro has been nothing short of spectacular over the years in Washington, D.C.
As a result of two stellar victories over budding young talents Ryan Harrison and Bernard Tomic in straight sets, Del Potro has improved his record to 11-1 at the hard-court tournament.
The Argentine will face No. 7-seeded Kevin Anderson, who defeated both James Duckworth and Mardy Fish during Thursday's play.
John Isner vs. Marcos Baghdatis
2013 has not been one to remember for Marcos Baghdatis.
Since a second-round victory at the ATP ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Baghdatis has been bounced out in the first round of every tournament since. That is, until now.
After defeating Lukas Lacko and Kei Nishikori, Baghdatis will face John Isner in the quarterfinals.
Baghdatis will make Isner work for everything in their match.
Isner struggles in the return game, and Baghdatis will make him move, which will result in a series of errors for the American.
However, if Isner can avoid getting fatigued, he could be on his way to the semifinals.
Tommy Haas and the Fountain of Youth
Tommy Haas is proving that he still has game.
Although it took three sets in each of the 35-year-old's previous matches, he is showing that he still has what it takes to possibly make a run at the 2013 U.S. Open.
