Andy Murray Beats Marin Cilic to Keep Wimbledon Dream Alive

After a few uneasy and nervy four setters this win has installed confidence in the British public that, in the absence of Rafael Nadal, he can progress to his first ever Wimbledon final.
Until now, Murray’s performances, with the exception of his first round demolition of Nikolay Davydenko, have been rather off-colour.
He seemed to peak too early, and although Murray was not expected to beat both Ivo Karlovic and Marcos Baghdatis in straight sets, he certainly made hard work of it.
There was even times in the third set when it looked as though Baghdatis had Murray right where he wanted him: the Scot was flustered, metres behind the baseline while the Cypriot was energised by the partisan Wimbledon crowd.
However, Murray’s performance was one of conviction this afternoon. Cilic broke the World No. 4 in the very first game of this match, but since then, Murray was in control.
The Croatian could not compete from the back of the court while his net play was not up to standard to trouble the Scot in any way, shape or form.
A 7-5, 6-2, 6-3 win does not flatter Murray in any way. Yes he was playing Cilic, who had played a five set match against Sam Querrey on Saturday, but he gave his opponent no hint that a win was on the cards.
Murray dealt with the several rain delays extremely well, his new shorts kept the balls firmly in his pockets and there seemed to be no injury worries despite the grabbing of his ribs after a couple of missed forehands.
Next up for Murray looks to be David Ferrer. The Spaniard will be Murray’s biggest test yet, and although he is now expected to make the final, there still lies a long and tricky path ahead.
