Rugby Championship 2013 Results: Score and Recap for South Africa vs. Argentina

South Africa opened their Rugby Championship campaign with a resounding 73-13 win over Argentina.
The contest was tight early on, with penalties traded by Morne Steyn and Felipe Contepomi, but South Africa took a grip on the contest from the moment they were awarded a penalty try on 29 minutes.
Argentina had nothing to offer in the second half and were routed in Johannesburg as the Springboks ran in a total of nine tries.
Steyn is one of the finest set-piece takers in world rugby and he gobbled up two penalties inside the opening 10 minutes to put South Africa ahead.
Contepomi slotted two penalties of his own—either side of a third Steyn strike—to keep Argentina in the hunt.
Argentina had plenty of possession, but struggled to make any impact inside the South Africa 22 and they were made to pay on 29 minutes when the home side were awarded a penalty try.
Argentina hooker Eusebio Guinazu was penalised and subsequently shown a yellow card for slapping the ball down to stop a try-creating pass, and the TMO awarded a penalty try.
Minutes later, a second try came South Africa’s way. A clever chip over the top from Willie Le Roux set JJ Engelbrecht away and he was not going to be caught, as he raced 50 yards to touch down for his fourth try in his last four appearances for his country.
The Pumas went down to 14 men for the second time in the match on 50 minutes as Leonardo Senatore was shown a yellow card for a dangerous tackle on Engelbrecht.
South Africa were clinical in their use of the extra man and tries from Willem Alberts, Jean de Villiers, Fourie du Preez, Bryan Habana, Duane Vermeulen and Bismarck du Plessis put the game beyond Argentina.
