2012 Six Nations Rugby: Scotland’s Parks Retires from International Competition

After the England loss, Parks faced criticism from a wide array of sources who challenged Parks slow pace of play and predictable attack.
In his statement, Parks was resolved and respectful but alluded to his recent struggles. "I also want to thank the loyal of the Scottish team," he said. " It's been a rocky road for me at times but at the end I've always given 100 per cent to play my best and succeed for Scotland."
Scotland's Number 10 also expressed his desire to continue playing club rugby. Parks is a member of the Cardiff Blues professionally.
Parks finishes his seven-year international career with 67 caps and 266 points scored. He also ends with tenure with a Scottish record 17 drop-goals.
This decision seems to peg Greig Laidlaw the default selection to wear the Number 10 for Scotland this weekend against a talented Welsh side. With Ruaridh Jackson still unable to compete due to injury, Parks' retirement could free up space for coach Andy Robinson to use a younger player like Stuart Hogg against Wales.
Parks' former team looks to rebound from last weekend's loss in Cardiff on Sunday.
