While the matches do not start for another six months, you can imagine that everyone involved would be willing to begin immediately. Of course, this much time is needed to handle the buildup for the biggest tournament in the world.
As a result, fans get the chance to thoroughly look through the matchups and analyze every step of the process from the first group stage match to the finals.
Here is a look at all the fixtures in the opening round sorted by group.
While anything can happen at the World Cup, there are a few favorites expected to make a deep run in 2014, which includes an easy path through the group stage.
As the host country, Brazil were automatically placed in Group A. The team is young but confident and extremely talented with Neymar, Oscar, Paulinho and many more.
One of the big questions was whether this group was ready to handle playing on the international stage. However, this was answered last summer at the Confederations Cup when Brazil defeated Spain to win the championship.
Of course, Spain are not moving out of the spotlight anytime soon. They enter the tournament not only as the defending World Cup champions but also as the winners of the last two European Championships. No team can match the past success of the players currently on the roster, and this experience will help along the way.
Germany also enter their group as the favorite after cruising through qualifying. They have been among the top finishers at almost every major tournament in the past decade, but this generation is still yet to earn a win.
