World Cup 2014 Group A Betting Preview: Brazil Dominate Odds

But before advancing into the knockout stage to compete for the World Cup, Brazil will have to deal with its opponents in Group A: Mexico, Croatia and Cameroon.
When it comes to which team will win Group A, there is very little drama or doubt surrounding team Brazil. Brazil is a 2-9 favorite to win the group and will be heavily favored in all three of its group-stage matchups.
Team leader Neymar is going off at 10-1 to win the Golden Boot for most goals scored in the tournament and is the 6-1 favorite to win the Player of the Tournament award. Neymar was named MVP in Brazil's Confederation Cup run in 2013.
Croatia's Mario Mandzukic was a star in the Euro 2012 tournament, tying for the most goals scored in the entire event. Mandzukic will be counted on to have another strong tournament this year if Croatia is planning on having any success in World Cup action.
Croatia won't have Mandzukic for the opening game of the tournament against Brazil due to a suspension, but this isn't a game the Croatians are expected to have much of a shot in anyway. Croatia is a 150-1 long shot to win the World Cup and is going off at 15-2 to win Group A but will be favored in the second game against Cameroon.
Also on the board at 15-2 to win Group A is Mexico, a team that has plenty of potential but also left much to be desired during qualifiers. Mexico won just two of their 10 matches in World Cup qualifiers before stomping New Zealand to earn this spot in the tournament.
El Tri tends to perform well in the group stage of the World Cup and has the talent to advance to the knockout stage, but form will have to be better. Mexico would pay 125-1 to win the World Cup.
