Violent Scenes, Alleged Racist Abuse Mar Serbia vs. England Under-21 Clash

England players were pelted with missiles from the crowd after Connor Wickham's late winning goal sealed their qualification for the Under-21 European Championships.
England's Danny Rose was sent off after the final whistle after kicking a water bottle, with The Independent reporting he did so in reaction to hearing monkey chants from the crowd.
England Under-21 manager Stuart Pearce later confirmed The FA's complaint to UEFA centered on allegations of racist abuse from the stands.
After the final whistle, Serbian and English players and officials became in involved in a string of clashes on the pitch, with punches being thrown and security forces unable to contain the chaos.
The Guardian reports England's assistant manager, Steve Wigley, was among those targeted by Serbian fans and players. Wigley was allegedly kicked as he tried to lead the England players down the tunnel.

The FA condemns both the scenes of racism and the confrontation at the final whistle during which time our players and staff were under extreme provocation. The FA has reported a number of incidents of racism to UEFA following the fixture. These were seemingly aimed at a number of England black players by the crowd. The matter is now with UEFA.
England manager Pearce told reporters:
It’s very sad but we’re united as a team. A lot is happening in our country to stamp out racism and I’m very proud of the reaction of our players and it’s a shame because it was a close tie teams between two who were really going hammer and tongs and it’s just a shame it was soured at the end.
