USMNT Watch: Alvarado Struggles in Club America Return, Jozy Sent Off

Unfortunately for one of the squad's first-choice center-backs, he carried his rough patch of form into his return at the club level. With all eyes on him, Ventura Alvarado struggled to impress in Club America's clash with Atlas on Saturday in a 3-1 loss at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
North of the border in Major League Soccer, the USMNT's top forward ran into some unwanted disciplinary action in what was a wild Saturday of matches in the league.

Alvarado Fails to Impress in Club America Return
The last thing Alvarado needed on Saturday was an awful performance to back up his less-than-stellar set of outings at the Gold Cup. But that is exactly what he delivered in his return to the pitch with Club America.
In the 46th minute, Alvarado committed a brutal own goal that saw the ball deflect from his left leg to his right knee while on the ground, eventually bouncing into the back of the net.
At the end of the match, Alvarado did his reputation no favors with a terrible attempted clearance that led to a late strike from the visitors.
With his struggles extending down to the club level, one has to wonder if Alvarado needs to take a step back and work on the little things before participating in a major international match.
