USA vs. Algeria 2010 FIFA World Cup: USA Win Enhances Patriotism, Not Much Else

I had no idea who or what they were talking about. I kept waiting for that one word that is widely understood.
Time continued to click off the clock, and in extra time, the U.S. did it.
Goooooooooooaaall!!!
What amazing jubilation and complete shock took over my body! My hands started to clap as I said, "USA...USA..USA!!!"
As Landon Donovan scored a most unlikely goal, it allowed the U.S. to advance into the knockout round.
I previously wrote an article entitled, "USA Soccer Needs to Win in Order to Advance the Sport," and after numerous comments of what an ass I am, the truth is that I just don't have an interest in soccer, nor will I even if the U.S. wins the World Cup.
Trust me, I'm not the only one.
While I write this article and it goes into the "soccer" section, it mostly hits the diehard soccer fans who love and adore this game.
I don't mean any disrespect, but there are quite a few of us sports fans who aren't interested in soccer.
Listening to the game today I realized that the advancement of the U.S. is going to do nothing other than increase patriotism and cause Americans to shout, "USA...USA...USA!"
Yes, I proved myself wrong, although I still think there are a few who may become interested in the sport.
I made a comparison between the United States Hockey team in the 2010 Olympics and this United States FIFA World Cup team, and I continue to think that while the teams and situations may be different, it's the patriotism that is the same.
