US Soccer: Rematch? United States and Spain Working on Friendly for June

On June 24th, after beating Egypt 3-0 days before (when they needed at least three goals) to advance out of their group, the little known Yanks came out of nowhere to shock Spain, the world's top team, in the FIFA Confederations Cup Semifinals.
The 2-0 win, with goals from Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey and a flawless performance from the Americans, ensured the United States a spot in its first ever FIFA tournament final and ended a record 35-match unbeaten streak by Spain, a record run that began following a loss to Romania in October 2006.
Since then, the United States saw an early exit from the World Cup while Spain went on to win its first ever.
Now, nearly two years separated from "The Miracle on Grass, Part 2," a rematch is looming.
The Boston Globe reported today that the United States and Spain are in the process of finalizing a friendly which would be played at the beginning of June at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
The game will be a warm-up for the United States, who are preparing for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, which begins June 5th. The Americans do not begin play until the 7th, when they face Canada in the Group Stage.
Of course, La Furia Roja, as world champions currently ranked No. 1, will be the best challenge that any team could provide heading into the tournament. They will naturally be much more difficult than any team America would face in the North American Championship.
The Yanks are in Group C with Canada, Panama and Guadeloupe. The bracket is set in a way which allows for a battle between arch-rivals Mexico and the United States in Pasadena on June 25th.
Spain has not been to Foxborough since 1994, when they played Italy at Foxboro Stadium in the 1994 FIFA World Cup.
