Tite Named Brazil Manager: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction

"Tite no longer works at Corinthians. He accepted the invitation from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF)," said Corinthians president Roberto de Andrade, per Agence France-Presse (via Yahoo Sports).
Tite, 55, will be replacing Dunga, who was fired after Brazil's shocking elimination in the Copa America Centenario group stage. Peru knocked the pre-tournament favorite out after claiming a 1-0 victory on Sunday when the Selecao only needed a draw to progress. Peru is 48th in the FIFA rankings, while Brazil sits seventh.
Dunga took over from Luiz Felipe Scolari in 2014. Brazil let the former Chelsea manager go after a 7-1 loss to Germany in the 2014 World Cup. The 1994 World Cup-winning captain previously managed the Selecao from 2006-10, winning the 2007 Copa America and 2009 Confederations Cup.
Tite has never managed at international level. His most recent experience came via two stints at Corinthians (2010-13 and 2015-16). He took a sabbatical in 2014, when it appeared he'd have a chance at landing the Brazilian national job that went Dunga's way.
There has been speculation for months that Tite would take over the struggling Brazil program. In April, he expressed frustration over the near-constant questioning of whether he'd take over for the then-employed Dunga.
"I have a lot of defects, many more than you can imagine, but I am proud of one virtue," Tite told ESPN Brazil (via ESPNFC.com). "Everything I do, I do with dignity. My dignity is not negotiable."
Tite will not coach the Brazilian Olympic team in Rio de Janeiro. Instead, the CBF announced Wednesday that Rogerio Micale will take over the team for the 2016 Summer Games.
