Spain Star Xabi Alonso Reportedly Set to Retire from International Football

Marca claims that the Spain star will confirm his decision after the World Cup following Spain's elimination from the tournament, as reported by Eurosport.com.
The 32-year-old has been an integral part of the success enjoyed by Spain in recent years, with two European Championship and the 2010 World Cup triumphs on his footballing CV.
However, according to the Marca article, the Real Madrid star made his decision before the finals in Brazil.
Alonso won his 112th cap for Spain in the 2-0 defeat to Chile, and he could bid farewell to the international arena in the final Group B game against Australia on Monday.
The former Liverpool man's passing ability was widely considered to have played a major role in Spain's phenomenal success in recent years.
Alonso opened the scoring for Vicente del Bosque's team in the 2014 World Cup finals, but his penalty was soon overtaken by five goals from Netherlands.
Now the midfielder looks set to step down from his role with Spain to concentrate on his club career.
