Roy Hodgson as England’s Manager: Why He Will Be a Success

He replaces Fabio Capello who was forced to resign as England's manager after differences with the FA concerning stripping John Terry of his captaincy of England's team. While Harry Redknapp of the Tottenham Hotspur is a great candidate, Hodgson is a blessing for England at its desperate hour.
Hodgson is as experienced as Redknapp and will be a success as England's manager. The reason lies in his credentials, knowledge and management style.
Hodgson has the advantage of being English and having coached English and European teams. His resume of managing teams (according to ESPN Soccernet) include Liverpool FC, West Brom, Fulham, Udinese and Inter Milan.
He was also manager of the Swiss, Finnish and United Arab Emirates national football teams. Hodgson was responsible for Switzerland advancing to the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA.
He took Fulham to the 2009-2010 UEFA Europa League finals, and is also the recipient of the League Manager's Association Manager of the Year Award.
According to ESPN Soccernet, his knowledge of football is extensive and is based on a hands-on, yet flexible approach. While he has been praised for his credentials, Hodgson was removed as Liverpool manager in 2011 and replaced by Kenny Dalgish.
The reasons were poor results in the club and the unpopularity of Hodgson. While England is (or appears to be) willing to forget this side of Hodgson, he has to prepare England in its match against Belgium next month.
Hodgson and England appear to be ready for the challenge at Euro 2012.
